The company announced the arrival of this feature with a tweet that said, ” The feature is available for both Android and iOS devices. Before this, users had to scan a QR code to log in to the WhatsApp web. This added layer of security will also notify users if anyone is trying to access their WhatsApp account on the web. Users will be able to unlink their WhatsApp account with a few taps to secure their account. WhatsApp has explained that to complete the linking process users will first have to use the Face ID feature of the Fingerprint sensor on their smartphone first, then finish the process using the QR code to stay signed in to their accounts. Here are the steps you have to follow to complete the authentication process:
For Android
Open WhatsApp on your smartphone and go to ‘More Settings’.Tap on ‘Link a Device’Complete all the steps to set up biometric authentication on your device.On the QR Screen that is displayed, select the checkbox beside the ‘Keep me signed in’ optionFinally, scan the QR Code with your phone and tap on Done
For iOS
Open WhatsApp on your device and go to WhatsApp settingsNext, tap on the ‘Link a Device’ option. Use the Face ID feature or Touch ID feature if your phone supports iOS 14 and aboveOn the QR Screen that is displayed, select the checkbox beside the ‘Keep me signed in’ optionFinally, scan the QR Code with your phone and tap on Done
Users can also log out of WhatsApp Web, WhatsApp Desktop, or Portal from their smartphone or computer with just a few taps.
